Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a) the names of States in which maximum shortage of fertilizers is being
observed in the country;
(b) whether fertilizers like Urea and DAP are not being made available in sufficient
quantity and on time in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh;
(c) whether it is a fact that the demand for fertilizers is higher in the paddy producing
areas during pre-monsoon and Kharif season, if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether there is any national policy to prioritise paddy-dominated districts like
Chandauli, in providing/allocating fertilizers, if so, the details thereof;
(e) the number of fertilizer warehouses in India along with their storage capacity;
(f) whether it is a fact that difficulties are faced due to lack of fertilizer storage
facilities in Uttar Pradesh particularly in Chandauli district leading to delay in distribution
and black marketing of fertilizers, if so, the details thereof; and
(g) whether the Government proposes to create fertilizer storage facilities in
Chandauli and if so, the details thereof along with the timeline of its completion?
ANSWER

(a) The availability of fertilizers viz. Urea, DAP, MOP and NPKS has remained
adequate across the country during the ongoing Kharif 2025 season.
(b) As per the information received from State Government of Uttar Pradesh, the
availability of Urea and DAP has remained adequate in all districts of the State,
including Chandauli, during the ongoing Kharif 2025 season.
(c) The Government of India assesses the requirement of Fertilizers before each
cropping season. During the Kharif, 2025, the quantity assessed for Urea, DAP, MOP
and NPKS are 185.40 LMT, 56.99 LMT, 11.13 LMT and 76.51 LMT respectively.-2-
(d) The mandate of Department of Fertilizers is to ensure adequate availability of
fertilizers at State level. However, the distribution of fertilizers within the State at district
level is done by the State Government.
(e) A total of 1,082 warehouses are being used by the fertilizer companies in the
country and their cumulative storage capacity is 22,42,074 Metric Tons.
(f) & (g) State Government of Uttar Pradesh has informed that there is no specific
difficulty reported in Chandauli district regarding storage of fertilizers.
