(a) whether the Government has provided financial assistance to
the State Governments particularly Maharashtra for the
construction of inter-State bridges and roads of economic
importance during the last three years;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise and year-wise; and
(c) the names of the States to which financial assistance is
proposed to be provided for this purpose during the current financial
year?

THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS

(a) to (c) The Government in Ministry of Road Transport and
Highways is primarily responsible for development and maintenance
of National Highways (NHs). Development and maintenance of NHs
is a continuous process. Works on NHs, including construction of
inter-State bridges and works of economic importance on NHs, are
accordingly taken up based on the traffic density, connectivityrequirement, condition of the road and synergy with PM Gati Shakti
National Master Plan (NMP).
State / Union Territory (UT) - wise details of funds allocated
and expenditure incurred towards development and maintenance of
NHs, including construction of inter-State bridges and works of
economic importance on NHs, during each of the last three years
and the current year, including for the State of Maharashtra, are at
Annexure-I.
Government also allocates and releases funds to the State
Governments / UTs, for development and maintenance of State
Roads, including construction of inter-State bridges and roads of
economic importance, under the Central Road & Infrastructure Fund
(CRIF) Scheme as per the provisions of the amended CRIF Act,
2000.
