SHRI JITENDRA KUMAR DOHARE: Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is providing any financial assistance for the maintenance, infrastructure development, and wildlife conservation of the Etawah Safari Park, if so, the details thereof; (b) the details of funds allocated and released to this Safari Park through the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) or other Central Schemes during the last three years, year-wise; (c) whether any new proposal has been received from the State Government of Uttar Pradesh seeking financial aid for the expansion of the Etawah Safari Park or for the translocation/induction of new animals (such as lions, cheetahs, etc.); and (d) if so, the action taken by the Government on this proposal and the amount of funds proposed to be sanctioned for the purpose? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE (SHRI KIRTI VARDHAN SINGH) (a) to (d) The Lion Breeding Centre and Multiple Safari, Etawah is a zoo recognized by the Central Zoo Authority. Under the Recognition of Zoo Rules, 2009, the zoo operator is primarily responsible for provisioning of funds for the maintenance, infrastructure development and wildlife conservation of the zoo. The Central Zoo Authority provides financial assistance to recognized zoos in accordance with the Guidelines for Prioritizing Grant of Financial Assistance to Zoos (2012), based on the proposals received from the concerned zoos and subject to availability of budget. During 2024-25, based on the proposal received from the Lion Breeding Centre and multiple Safari Park, Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, an amount of Rs 23.00 lakhs was released by the Central Zoo Authority. However, proposals from the State of Uttar Pradesh for the years 2023-24 and 2025-26 including for expansion of the Etawah Safari Park or for the translocation/induction of new animals (such as lions, cheetahs, etc.) have not been received in the Central Zoo Authority. ***
