FINANCIAL GRANTS GIVEN TO NGOS AND SHGS
*401. SMT. SUMITRA BALMIK:
Will the Minister of Women and Child Development be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government engages Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Self Help
Groups (SHGs) and community-based organisations in the implementation of schemes
related to women empowerment, child development and nutrition awareness;
(b) if so, the details of grants sanctioned and released during last three years;
(c) the number of NGOs and SHGs supported under each scheme, along with the nature
of activities undertaken by them under such financial assistance; and
(d) the mechanism adopted by Government to monitor utilisation of these grants and
evaluate the outcomes of such programmes at the community level?

(a) to (d) The Ministry of Women and Child Development releases funds directly to States and
UTs under its various schemes. It does not release any funds to Non-Governmental
Organisations (NGOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Community-based organisations.
