Fish Farming in Rajasthan

Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING be pleased
to state:
(a) the total funds allocated for fish farming under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada
Yojana (PMMSY) in the Banswara Lok Sabha Constituency in Rajasthan;
(b) the details of the tenders issued for fish farming, including tender amount and the
name of the recipient;
(c) whether it is true that under this scheme in Banswara Lok Sabha Constituency in
Rajasthan the contract for fish farming at Mahi Dam given to a person from Uttar Pradesh
but he failed to complete the contract;
(d) if so, the total number of beneficiaries along with the amount and grants provided
under this scheme in Banswara till date and the action taken against the guilty person in the
said case;
(e) whether the Government proposes to prevent such cases in the future and to priority
local unemployed youth under the said scheme; and
(f) the time by which it is likely to be implemented and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying,
Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)
accorded approvals to the projects at a total cost of Rs. 66.12 crore with the central share
of Rs. 22.22 crore during last 5 years for holistic development of the fisheries sector
including fish farming in Rajasthan. The Government of Rajasthan has reported that no
separate budget allocation has been made under PMMSY specifically for Banswara
Constituency.
(b): The details of tender issued including tender amount and the name of the recipient for
fish farming as reported by the Government of Rajasthan are furnished at Annexure-I.
(c) to (f) : The Government of Rajasthan has reported that the approval was given to a
person from Uttar Pradesh for setting up a cage culture unit under PMMSY and the person
failed to complete the project as per the guidelines. Under PMMSY, till date, an amount of
Rs. 68.74 lakh has been granted to 06 beneficiaries in Banswara. The Government of
Rajasthan has also reported that as per rules and conditions, necessary action has been
taken through police to recover the subsidy amount from the defaulter who failed to complete
the project. Under PMMSY priority has been given to local individuals to get benefited from
the scheme. In Banswara Lok Sabha constituency, most of the approved beneficiaries under
the scheme are local people.
