Parliament Question: Foodgrains Procurement at MSP in Rajasthan

SANJNA JATAV: Will the Minister of CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has received any complaints from farmers organisations in Rajasthan regarding farmers being forced to sell their produce at lower prices due to delays in procurement at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and if so, the details thereof; (b) the details of the procurement centers established in Rajasthan during the current marketing season, district-wise; (c) the total quantity of foodgrains procured so far in comparison to the fixed target for foodgrains procurement at MSP in the said State; and (d) the steps taken by the Government to decentralize, make time-bound and effective procurement process in order to prevent distress sale of crops by farmers? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MINISTRY OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS. FOOD & PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION (SHRIMATI NIMUBEN JAYANTIBHAI BAMBHANIYA) (a): The Government of Rajasthan has informed that wheat procurement operations at Minimum Support Price (MSP) commenced as scheduled in the State during Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2026-27. Resultantly, no complaints have been received from farmers’ organizations in Rajasthan. (b): A total of 448 procurement centres have been established in Rajasthan during RMS 2026- 27. The district-wise details of procurement centres established during RMS 2026-27 are annexed. (c): A total quantity of 27.12 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LIVIT) wheat has been procured against the procurement estimate of 28.50 LMT in Rajasthan during RMS 2026-27. (d): The Government of India has signed a Mamorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Govt. of Rajasthan for procurement of wheat in 09 districts on behalf of Central Government directly and/or through its Agencies under Decentralised mode (DCP), for contribution to the Central Pool. The Government of India has proposed to the Govt. of Rajasthan to take necessary measures to gradually shift all other districts towards Decentralized (DCP) mode of procurement. Following steps have been also taken by the Government to prevent distress sales: i. Timely commencement of procurement operations.ii. Establishment of adequate number of procurement centres. iii. Prompt MSP payments to farmers. iv. Availability of adequate manpower and logistics. v. Conducting awareness campaigns. vi. Adequate storage capacity for procurement of wheat. vii.
