ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a): The Ministry of Tourism compiles data on Domestic Tourist Visits
(DTVs) and Foreign Tourist Visits (FTVs) based on information received
from the respective State Governments and Union Territory
Administrations. The State/UT-wise details of Domestic Tourist Visits
(DTVs) and Foreign Tourist Visits (FTVs) during the last Ten years (2016-
2025) are placed at Annexure.
(b): The Ministry of Tourism undertakes various promotional activities in
important and potential tourist generating markets with the objective to
promote inbound tourism to the country. The activities are undertaken in
association with the Indian Missions located in the respective countries,
State Governments/Union Territories Administrations and travel trade
sector. The promotional activities include organization of Tourism
Roadshows, participation in international travel trade exhibitions, fair and
events; organization of familiarization (FAM) tours for foreign tour
operators, media and influencers; India food festivals; engagement with
local tour operators and other industry stakeholders; publicity throughsocial media handles, etc.

ongoing schemes. The Ministry revamped its Swadesh Darshan scheme
as Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0) with the objective to develop sustainable
and responsible tourism destinations following a destination-centric
approach. Under SD2.0, the Ministry has Sanctioned 53 Projects across
27 States/UTs for development.
Additionally, the Ministry has launched ‘Challenge Based
Destination Development’ (CBDD) as a sub-scheme of Swadesh Darshan
2.0 to transform destinations into sustainable and responsible ones
through a challenge mode.
Furthermore, under the ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital
Investment (SASCI) – Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global
Scale’ scheme, the Government has sanctioned 40 projects across 23
States with the primary objective to comprehensively develop iconic
tourist centres at a global scale.
