ANSWER
THE MINISTER FOR FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY & DAIRYING
(SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH)
(a) to (d) Animal Husbandry is a State subject. Setting up of Animal Health Camp, animal
disease diagnosis and treatment, availability of medicine, vaccination of State prioritized
diseases etc, are under the domain of the States.
As per the information received from the States, free Animal Health Camps are organized by
many of the States covering animals like cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, horse, donkey, camel,
dogs etc. In Animal Health Camps treatment of diseases and gynecological disorders,
deworming, minor surgeries, vaccination against state prioritized diseases, castration,
pregnancy diagnosis, awareness activities etc. are covered.
However, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, GoI supports the States for better
animal health, disease prevention and control as below:
i. Guidelines for minimum standards of Veterinary Infrastructure in India has been framed
and communicated to States/UT with the request for adoption and necessary action.
ii. Under Establishment and Strengthening of Veterinary Hospital & Dispensary
(ESVHD-MVU) of LHDCP, the financial assistance is provided to States/UTs for
ground operation of MVUs on sharing basis. Till now, total 4019 Mobile Veterinary
Units (MVUs) have been made operational under LHDCP Scheme in 29 States/UTs.
There is provision of one veterinarian, one para-veterinarian and one driver-cum-
attendant for each MVU under the said Scheme.
