ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS
(DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA)
(a) Financial assistance is provided to recognized National Sports Federations (NSFs) under the
scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations (ANSF). The details of NSFs receiving
Government funding under ANSF scheme after December 2024 are attached as Annexure-I.
(b) to (d) The National Sports Development Code of India, 2011 (‘Sports Code’) is an
amalgamation of orders and instructions issued by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports from
time-to-time and is a dynamic document. The adherence to the provisions of the Sports Code is an
ongoing and continuous exercise and the Ministry constantly monitors the National Sports
Federations (NSFs) with regard to the observance of the provisions of Sports Code by them. The
Ministry ensures that recognised NSFs abide by the basic and cardinal principles, such as age &
tenure restrictions in respect of office bearers of the NSFs, conduct of fair and transparent
elections, protection of athletes’ interests, etc. The Government insists on observance of the
provisions of the Sports Code by the NSFs. Wherever any such violations are noticed, necessary
action is taken as per the provisions of Sports Code.
Page 1 of 4During the last three years, the Ministry had suspended the recognition of the Wrestling Federation
of India and the Paralympic Committee of India due to governance and compliance lapses. Later,
upon compliance with the Government guidelines their recognition was restored.
(e) to (g) Under the ANSF scheme, the Ministry provides financial assistance to recognized NSFs
towards training of athletes which includes all requisite facilities for their preparations including
wholesome nutritious diet, food supplements, equipment support, state-of-the-art infrastructure,
lodging, travelling facilities, services of reputed Indian and Foreign Coaches/supporting staff,
scientific & medical support, sports kit besides financial assistance for their training abroad and
participation in international competitions in India and abroad. The Ministry of Youth Affairs &
Sports has revised the norms of assistance under Scheme of Assistance to NSFs (ANSF) on
22.05.2025, which is also available on the website of this Ministry on following link:
