Parliament Question: Funds for the development of AYUSH infrastructure in Tamil Nadu

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AYUSH RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3527 TO BE ANSWERED ON 24.03.2026 Funds for the development of AYUSH infrastructure in Tamil Nadu 3527 Shri R. Girirajan: Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state: (a) whether Government has sanctioned funds for the development of AYUSH infrastructure in Tamil Nadu; (b) if so, the details of funds allocated in the last five years and year-wise and hospital-wise; (c) the steps taken by Government to promote AYUSH medicinal research and related activities in Tamil Nadu; and (d) the funds allocated in the last five years by the union Government in this regard? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) & (b) Yes, Government of India has sanctioned funds of Rs. 476.45 crore to Tamil Nadu from 2014-15 to 2024-25 under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM) to support their efforts for overall development and promotion of Ayush systems including infrastructure as per the proposals received from them through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs). The details of funds approved/sanctioned during year-wise and hospital-wise the last five years for IAHs in Tamil Nadu is furnished at Annexure I. (c) & (d) Ministry of Ayush has its Autonomous Bodies namely, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) and Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN) having peripheral research institutes across the country including state of Tamil Nadu. These councils are engaged in research, extending healthcare services and promotion 1of Ayush system through Information Education and Communication (IEC) activities by their peripheral Institutes all over the India. To promote Ayurveda research in the State of Tamil Nadu, include two units under CCRAS, namely Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute and Dr. Achanta Lakshmipathi Regional Ayurveda Research Institute in Chennai are available. Additionally, two units under CCRH have been established for research in Homoeopathy namely the Homoeopathic Research Institute for Disabilities, Chennai and the Centre for Medicinal Plant Research in Homoeopathy, Nilgiri. Further, for research in Siddha, three units under the CCRS are also functional in the State, including Siddha Central Research Institute, Chennai, Siddha Clinical Research Unit, Palayamkottai and the Siddha Medicinal Plants Garden, Mettur Dam.
