Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details and the number of Garima Grehs across the country, State-wise;
(b) the number of transgenders housed in each state’s Garima Grehs, State-wise;
(c) the details of amount allocated and released to Garima Grehs between 2020-21 and 2024- 25
State-wise;
(d) whether the pilot phase from 2020 to 2021, Garima Grehs across India are short of funds;
(e) if so, the last release of funds along with the amount, State-wise;
(f) whether the Union Government has taken steps to facilitate easier access to official
identification such as the Aadhaar Card and “transgender certificate” which countless
transgender individuals find difficult to obtain, as they have to flee their homes because of
discrimination and mistreatment; and
(g) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): The state-wise details of Garima Grehs across the country and number of transgender
persons residing in them are at Annexure-I.
(c): The state-wise details of funds sanctioned to Garima Grehs between 2020-21 and 2024-25
are at Annexure-II.
(d): No Sir.
(e): Details are at Annexure -II(f) & (g): For facilitating easier access to Transgender Certificate, National Portal for
Transgender Persons has been launched to issue Transgender certificates and ID cards to eligible
Transgender persons. This is an end-to-end online process where the applicant can apply for the
TG certificate and also download the certificate after issue without any requirement to go to any
office of issue.
For facilitating easier access to Aadhaar Card, Transgender Identity Card /Certificate has been
added in list of documents that may be presented to evidence Proof of Identity, Address,
Relationship or Date of Birth for Enrolment for Aadhaar Number of Individual Five Years and
above of Age.Annexure-I
