Grants to Wayanad under SSA

(a) the details of grants provided to schools in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency during the
last four years, school-wise; and
(b) the details of initiatives being taken under Samagra Shikha Abhiyan (SSA) to improve
educational outcomes for tribal students, especially in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency?

(a): Under Centrally Sponsored Samagra Shiksha and STARS Scheme, the annual plans
are prepared by the States and UTs based on their requirements and priorities and this is
reflected in their respective Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWP&B) Proposals. These plans
are then appraised and approved/estimated by the Project Approval Board (PAB) in the
Department of School Education & Literacy in consultation with the States and UTs as per
the programmatic and financial norms of the scheme. Based on the approved AWP&B, the
Central Share under Samagra Shiksha is released to the respective State/UT in lumpsum and
not for constituencies or districts separately. The States/UTs then allocate and utilize these
funds in line with their priorities, transferring them further to Blocks, Districts, and Schools
as applicable, in accordance with the approved AWP&B.

students, States/UTs are supported for free textbooks and uniforms, special training for out-
of-school children to enable age-appropriate mainstreaming, and ICT and digital initiatives,
including development of digital content in vernacular languages, as approved in their
Annual Work Plan & Budget (AWP&B).
The States are also supported for Residential Schools and Hostels to facilitate education of
children in remote tribal habitations. Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan
(PM- JANMAN) targeted for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), Dharti Aaba
Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya
(KGBV) which are residential schools for girls from disadvantaged groups, including
Scheduled Tribes (ST) are some of the Schemes for tribal students which includes Wayanad
Lok Sabha constituency. One Hostel under PM-JANMAN has been approved on 15.01.2024
in Wayanad District during 2024-25.
