Parliament Question: Greenfield Highway Project between Karur and Coimbatore

be pleased to state:

(a) the status of the Greenfield Highway Project between Karur and Coimbatore and the details of land acquired for the said project;

(b) whether tolls are being collected between Karur and Coimbatore without completion of the project, if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the status of the Vellakoil-Sankari National Highway (NH)-381A and the details of land acquisition for the said project? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)

(a) to (c) A statement is laid on the Table of the House.STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 64 ANSWERED ON 4TH DECEMBER, 2025 ASKED BY SHRI MATHESWARAN V S REGARDING ‘GREENFIELD HIGHWAY PROJECT BETWEEN KARUR AND COIMBATORE ’.

(a) The work for the preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project between Karur and Coimbatore has been taken up. The decision of the project implementation will be taken based on the outcome of DPR, traffic density and synergy with PM Gati-shakti master plan.

(b) The toll collection has been started at Pongalur toll plaza with effect from 27.11.2025 on the completed 4-lane Palladam-Kurukkathi section of NH-81.

(c) The work of preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Vellakoil-Sankari section of National Highway (NH)-381A has been taken up. Alignment of this stretch has been approved and the land acquisition process has been initiated. The project will be implemented based on the outcome of DPR, traffic density and synergy with PM Gati-shakti master plan.
