DHARMAR: Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state: (a) the total amount of Gross Tax Revenue collected from Tamil Nadu during the last three years, year-wise; (b) the total devolution of Central taxes and grants-in-aid released to the State during the said period; (c) whether there has been any shortfall in GST compensation payable to Tamil Nadu; and (d) the steps taken by Government to ensure equitable distribution of Central funds to the State? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI PANKAJ CHAUDHARY) (a): Gross Direct Tax Collection from Tamil Nadu during last three years (Rs. in crore) Financial Year Net Direct Tax Collection 2022-23* 1,23,225.2 2023-24# 1,48,558.84 2024-25# 1,65,899.23 *Source – NSDL, the data is for the period before the launch of TIN2.0 FY 2022-23 Gross Direct Collection figures mentioned is for Pr. CCIT, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry which includes Gross Direct Tax Collection figures for Puducherry also. #Source – DGIT (Systems) However, in case of Indirect Taxes State-Wise data is not maintained.(b): States’ Share of Union Taxes and Duties released to the States since FY 2022-23 to FY 2025-26 (till 10.02.2026) State 2022-23 2023-24 2024-25 2025-26 (till 10.02.2026 Tamil Nadu 38,731 46,072 52,492 51,655 Apart from devolution from the divisible pool of taxes, funds under Centrally Sponsored Scheme & SASCI have been released to the state of Tamil Nadu by Government of India as per details in the Annexure- A. (c): No, Government of India has already released the entire amount of provisionally admissible GST compensation to the State of Tamil Nadu for loss of revenue arising on account of implementation of Goods and Services Tax for five years i.e., from 1st July, 2017 to 30th June, 2022. Final Compensation arising out of reconciliation of provisional figures with audited figures has also been released to State of Tamil Nadu for FY 2017-18 to FY 2022-23.
