Since the launch of the Udyam Registration Portal on July 1, 2020, using revised MSME classification criteria, 6.59 crore MSMEs have registered as of July 15, 2025, reporting a total employment of 28.49 crore. Specific registration and employment figures are as follows:
* July 1, 2020 - March 31, 2021: 28,29,746 MSMEs registered, employing 2,73,18,171 people.
* Up to March 31, 2022: 79,52,575 MSMEs registered, employing 6,22,03,234 people.
* Up to March 31, 2023: 1,64,99,727 MSMEs registered, employing 10,77,91,936 people.
* Up to March 31, 2024: 4,13,93,255 MSMEs registered, employing 18,17,67,574 people.
* Up to March 31, 2025: 6,20,48,528 MSMEs registered, employing 26,43,99,068 people.
* Up to July 15, 2025: 6,58,74,401 MSMEs registered, employing 28,49,41,243 people.
The MSME sector's contribution to India's Gross Value Added (GVA) in GDP is as follows:
* 2019-20: 31.8%
* 2020-21: 29.1%
* 2021-22: 31.1%
* 2022-23: 31.3%
* 2023-24: 31.1%
The Central Government supports MSME growth nationwide, including in Bihar, through schemes and initiatives such as the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme, Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises, PM Vishwakarma scheme, Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme scheme, Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme, Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance, and MSME Champions Scheme.

Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state:
(a) the growth of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in the country during the
last five years and its overall contribution to the national economy;
(b) the comparison of this growth with the previous five-year period in terms of economic indicators
and socio-economic impact, particularly in terms of employment generation and livelihood support; and
(c) the details of new schemes, policies or initiatives undertaken by the Government to further boost
the MSME sector with specific reference to the initiatives and support extended in the State of Bihar?

(a) & (b): Udyam Registration Portal was launched on 01.07.2020 with the revised criteria for
classification of MSMEs. As on 28.07.2025, the total number of MSMEs registered on the Udyam
Registration Portal (including Udyam Assist Platform) and Employment reported in all India from
01.07.2020 to 15.07.2025 was 6.59 Crore and 28.49 crore respectively. The details are given below:

(c): The Central Government supplements the efforts of the States/UTs through various
schemes, programmes and policy initiatives for promoting the growth and competitiveness of MSMEs
and facilitating technological upgradation and innovation of MSMEs in the country including Bihar.
These schemes/ programmes include Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme, Credit
Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises, PM Vishwakarma scheme, Entrepreneurship &
Skill Development Programme scheme, Micro and Small Enterprises – Cluster Development
