Parliament Question: Houses under PMAY-U 2.0 in Dumka, Jharkhand

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 173 TO BE ANSWERED ON JULY 30, 2026 HOUSES UNDER PMAY - U 2.0 IN DUMKA, JHARKHAND NO. 173 SHRI NALIN SOREN: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has sanctioned houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) in Dumka Municipal Council area of Jharkhand; (b) if so, the number of houses sanctioned, under construction and completed so far under the said yojana; (c) the amount of central assistance sanctioned and released so far to Dumka Municipal Council under the said yojana; and (d) whether the Government proposes to take any special steps to provide housing to eligible beneficiaries at the earliest and settle the pending cases in a time-bound manner in Dumka Municipal Council and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI MANOHAR LAL) (a) to (d): A statement is laid on the Table of the House.STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 173* (13TH POSITION) DUE FOR ANSWER ON 30.07.2026 REGARDING “HOUSES UNDER PMAY-U 2.0 IN DUMKA, JHARKHAND” (a) to (c): Based on the project proposals received from the State Government of Jharkhand, a total of 14,187 houses have been sanctioned with the Central Assistance of ₹ 211.57 crore under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). Out of this, a meagre figure of 118 houses are sanctioned in Dumka Municipal Council with the approved Central Assistance of ₹1.76 crore. The first instalment of 40% of approved Central Assistance against the approved houses in Dumka Municipal Council, i.e. ₹70.2 lakh will be given to state government through mother sanction under SNA-SPARSH within a month. The progress of the scheme can also be accessed on the PMAY-U dashboard (https://dashboard.pmay-urban.gov.in). (d): PMAY-U 2.0 adopts a demand driven approach and no target has been fixed by the Government. States/Union Territories (UTs) assess the requirement through their Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)/Implementing Agencies in their respective jurisdictions. Eligible citizens apply through Unified Web Portal of PMAY-U 2.0 with all details on the portal. States/UTs/ULBs validate the beneficiaries as per the eligibility criteria of the scheme guidelines and selection/scrutiny of beneficiary lists are done by the States/UTs. The Scheme Guidelines and Unified Web Portal for submitting the online applications can be accessed through https://pmay-urban.gov.in. Based on the demand survey and selection of beneficiaries, the project proposals are prepared and approved by the State Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (SLSMC) headed by the Chief Secretary of States/UTs for further consideration of release of Central Assistance by the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC). However, the Government of Jharkhand decided to implement PMAY-U 2.0 only on 06.05.2026. No project proposal from Government of Jharkhand including Dumka is pending with the Ministry. *****
