SHRI RAO RAJENDRA SINGH: Will the Minister of COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री) be pleased to state: (a) whether there is a strategy for identification and registration of small tea growers, if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the Government proposes to formulate a comprehensive and time-bound strategy for identification, registration and creation of a centralised database of all small and big tea growers in the country; and (c) If so, the details thereof, including the steps proposed to bring all such growers under the regulatory control of the Tea Board and to extend developmental assistance to them? ANSWER वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्रालय में राज्यमंत्री (श्री णिणिन प्रसाद) THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) to (c) Identification and registration of small tea growers by Tea Board is a continuous process. Currently, applications from small tea growers for registration are taken online through the Service Plus portal. These applications are then verified by the nearest field office of Tea Board post which a QR code-based identity-cum-registration card is issued to the applicant small tea grower online. So far, as on 16.03.2026, the Tea Board has registered 225,137 small tea growers (STGs). In addition, the Tea Board has identified and registered all 1,567 large tea growers also and it maintains a centralized database of large as well as small tea growers. Developmental assistance under Tea Board’s ‘Tea Development and Promotion Scheme’ is available to all registered small tea growers across the country. ***** 1
