GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MINES RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.1877 ANSWERED ON 09.03.2026 IDENTIFICATION, AUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF MINERAL BOCKS IN WESTERN UTTAR PRADESH 1877. SMT. GEETA ALIAS CHANDRAPRABHA: Will the Minister of MINES be pleased to state: (a) whether Government has identified mineral-bearing sites suitable for auction in districts of western Uttar Pradesh such as Etawah, Auraiya, Firozabad, Mainpuri and Etah; (b) if so, the details of mineral blocks notified, auctioned or proposed for auction in this region, along with the current status of allocation and exploration; (c) whether any the Central or State reports have been prepared regarding the potential value and commercial viability of these mineral resources; and (d) the extent to which the planned or ongoing auctions in western Uttar Pradesh are expected to contribute to local employment opportunities, revenue enhancement and overall industrial development within the State? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR COAL AND MINES (SHRI SATISH CHANDRA DUBEY) (a) to (d): As per information provided by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, districts namely Etawah, Auraiya, Firozabad, Mainpuri and Etah fall primarily within the Indo-Gangetic Plain, due to which the possibility of finding major minerals is very low/negligible. Hence, no exploration has been conducted in these districts. However, in Lalitpur district of western Uttar Pradesh, two critical and strategic mineral blocks namely Pahadi Kalan-Gora Kalan and Barwar Phosphorite blocks have been successfully auctioned by the Central Government. Auction of mineral blocks ensure transparent allocation of resources and augment State revenue, while supporting economic development and employment generation. The revenue realized gets utilized for developmental purposes. Upon commencement of mining operations, such projects generate direct and indirect employment, yield royalty & other statutory levies, and promote industrial development. *****
