Parliament Question: Impact of Shortage of Fuel on Flight Operations

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 2009 ( TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 30th July 2026 ) IMPACT OF SHORTAGE OF FUEL ON FLIGHT OPERATIONS 2009. SHRI KOTA SRINIVASA POOJARY Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) the extent to which flight operations in the country have been curtailed due to the fuel shortage resulting from the conflict in Gulf nations; (b) whether there are signs of the fuel crisis being resolved and if so, the details thereof; (c) whether the suspended flight operations would be resumed as usual and if so, the details thereof; and (d) the details of the Government's plan to launch the Mangaluru-Tirupati flight service, a long-standing demand of devotees? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a): As informed by the Indian scheduled carriers, they have not curtailed flight operations due to shortage of aviation fuel.; (b) & (c): Does not arise.; (d): With the repeal of Air Corporations Act in March 1994, the Indian domestic aviation has been deregulated. It is therefore up to the airlines to provide air services to specific places depending upon the traffic demand and commercial viability subject to compliance with the extant guidelines in this regard. Airlines plan their domestic flight schedule on a specific route/city based on market demand, commercial feasibility and their company policy. ******
