Parliament Question: Implementation of Ken-Betwa River Link Project in Rajasthan

Shri HARISH CHANDRA MEENA: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) the present status of implementation of the Ken–Betwa River Linking Project in Rajasthan as on May, 2026 along with the details of its completed and pending phases; (b) the steps taken to ensure the participation of Group 'C' and Group 'D' employees in the implementation, monitoring and water management activities under the Project; (c) the initiatives taken to ensure equitable and fair distribution of water in the arid districts of Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Kota and Bundi; (d) the steps taken to strengthen water conservation in the State and to build local capacity including training of junior technical and field-level personnel; and (e) the estimated timeline for providing sustainable irrigation facilities to the agricultural sector under the Project by the end of 2026? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI RAJ BHUSHAN CHOUDHARY) (a) Rajasthan is not a beneficiary State under the Ken–Betwa Link Project. Phase-I and Phase-II of the Project, pertaining to Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, are at different stages of implementation and are progressing as per the approved timelines. (b) All stakeholders associated with the Project, including personnel across various cadres, are engaged in accordance with their designated roles in planning, implementation, monitoring and water-management activities regarding Ken–Betwa Link Project. (c) to (e) The questions do not arise, as the Ken–Betwa Link Project does not cover any district of Rajasthan. *****
