GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF SCHOOL EDUCATION AND LITERACY RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO - 542 ANSWERED ON - 04/02/2026 Implementation of NEP 2020 in Andhra Pradesh 542 Shri Ayodhya Rami Reddy Alla: Will the Minister of Education be pleased to state: (a) number of Andhra Pradesh schools upgraded to National Education Policy model status against the 1,000 targeted by 2025; (b) funds released and used for teacher training in Financial Year 2024–25; and (c) timeline for completing mandated infrastructure works in remaining schools? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a): NEP, 2020 has been launched in July, 2020 and Samagra Shiksha, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme has been aligned with policy implementation. In addition, Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI), a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, wherein existing schools are developed as exemplar schools, showcasing all aspects of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These schools also serve as a template and thereby provide leadership to schools in their neighbourhood providing an equitable, inclusive and joyful school environment that takes care of the diverse background, multilingual needs, and different academic abilities of children and makes them active participants in their learning process. 935 schools under the administrative control of the State Government of Andhra Pradesh have been selected under the PM SHRI Scheme.(b): An amount of Rs. 1810.10 Lakh was approved for teacher training under PM SHRI Scheme during the Financial Year 2024–25 for the State of Andhra Pradesh and the State Government of Andhra Pradesh has reported utilization of entire amount. (c): Creation and upgradation of infrastructure in school is a continuous process. 3725 sanctioned works under PM SHRI Scheme in Andhra Pradesh have been completed. *****
