Parliament Question: Implementation of One District One Product scheme in Gujarat

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1640. TO BE ANSWERED ON FRIDAY, THE 13TH FEBRUARY, 2026. IMPLEMENTATION OF ONE DISTRICT ONE PRODUCT SCHEME IN GUJARAT 1640. SHRI GOVINDBHAI LALJIBHAI DHOLAKIA: Will the Minister of Commerce and Industry be pleased to state: (a) whether Government is operating the One District One Product (ODOP) Scheme with the objective of promoting balanced regional development across all districts in the country; (b) whether the ODOP scheme aims to select, brand and promote at least one product from each district in the country in order to enable holistic socio-economic development across sectors; and (c) the details of the products selected under the ODOP scheme in various districts of Gujarat, including Surat, along with the details of beneficiaries covered under the Scheme? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) to (c): The One District One Product (ODOP) an initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) with the aim to select, brand, and promote at least one product from each district of the country for enabling holistic socio economic growth across all regions. As of date, more than 1,200 products have been identified across 773 districts in the country under the ODOP framework. The selection of ODOP products is undertaken by the respective State/Union Territory (UT) Governments. The Government of Gujarat have identified 90 products from 33 districts of which 31 products fall under Cottage & Rural Industries (Handloom & Handicraft), Gujarat. Details of district wise products are available in Annexure I. As per the information received from the Government of Gujarat, Surat has 3 products under ODOP, primary product is Gems & Jewelry covered under Industry, secondaryand tertiary products are Zari Zardoshi and Sadeli respectively which are covered under Cottage & Rural Industries (Handloom & Handicraft). 1310 artisans pertaining to handloom & handicraft (Cottage and Rural Industries) across the districts of Gujarat have been benefited from exhibition organized under ODOP Scheme of Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (Garvi Gurjari) in the current financial year (2025-26) till 31st January 2026. *********ANNEXURE I ANNEXURE REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) to (c) OF THE RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1640 FOR ANSWER ON 13.02.2026.
