Inclusion of new chapters in Class VIII syllabus
2910 # Shri Ramji Lal Suman:
Will the Minister of Education be pleased to state:
(a) the status of chapter on the pending cases and their resolution and existing actual
challenges included in Class VIII curriculum by National Council of Educational Research
and Training (NCERT);
(b) the levels at which decisions were made regarding publishing and including the chapter
on pending cases, their resolutions and the challenges in the said curriculum; and
(c) the deficiencies in this curriculum and the current status of the resolution thereof?

(a) to (c): Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has taken Suo Moto in the matter vide Writ Petition (Civil)
No (s). 1/2026 titled as Social Science Textbook for Grade 8 (Part-2) published by NCERT and ancillary
issues. Hence, the matter is sub-judice.
