GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 897 TO BE ANSWERED ON 06.02.2026 INCLUSION OF TRIBAL FOLKLORE AND ODIA CINEMA IN NATIONAL FILM HERITAGE MISSION 897: SHRI NIRANJAN BISHI: Will the Minister of INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING be pleased to state: (a) whether the Ministry will consider inclusion of tribal folklore and Odia cinema in the National Film Heritage Mission for restoration and digitization; and (b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING AND PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS (DR. L. MURUGAN) (a) & (b): The Government of India is implementing the National Film Heritage Mission (NFHM) to preserve, digitize, and restore selected classic Indian films. Under this mission, several documentaries on tribal folklore are being digitally preserved. Further, Odia cinema is also covered under the Mission, with a number of Odia feature films already digitized and several others digitally restored. *****
