Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has undertaken any initiatives to strengthen AYUSH healthcare
infrastructure across the districts of the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of hospitals, dispensaries and wellness
centres established during the last three years and the future expansion plan, State/UT-wise;
(c) whether steps are being taken to promote the integration of AYUSH systems with
mainstream healthcare delivery under the national health programmes; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Public health being a State subject, the primary responsibility for taking initiatives to
strengthen Ayush healthcare infrastructure comes under the purview of the respective State/UT
Government. However, Ministry of Ayush is implementing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of
National Ayush Mission (NAM) through State/UT Governments and supporting their efforts
for overall development and promotion of Ayush system including strengthening of the
infrastructure by providing financial assistance for establishment of 50/30/10 bedded
Integrated Ayush Hospitals (IAHs), Ayush dispensaries as well as operationalization of Ayush
Health & Wellness Centres (AHWCs) now renamed as Ayushman Aarogya Mandir (Ayush)
[AAM (Ayush)] by upgrading existing Ayush dispensaries & Sub Health Centres.
Under NAM, as per the proposals received from the State/UT Governments through
State Annual Action Plan (SAAPs), the State/UT-wise status of approved IAHs, Ayush
Dispensaries for establishment and AAM (Ayush) for operationalization by upgrading existing
Ayush dispensaries & Sub Health Centres during the last three years is furnished at Annexure.(c) & (d) Government of India has adopted a strategy of Co-location of Ayush facilities at
Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals
(DHs) in recent years to integrate Ayush systems (Ayurveda, Yoga Naturopathy, Unani,
Siddha, and Homoeopathy) into the mainstream healthcare system in the country; thus enabling
the choice to the patients for different systems of medicines under a single window. The
engagement of Ayush doctors/ paramedics and their training is being supported by the Ministry
of Health & Family Welfare under National Health Mission (NHM), while the support for
Ayush infrastructure, equipment/ furniture and medicines is being provided by the Ministry of
Ayush under National Ayush Mission (NAM). As on 30.06.2025, NHM supports co-location
of Ayush services in health facilities such as PHCs (6,206), CHCs (3,133), DHs (472) and other
health facilities (3,283) by allocating Ayush services in 13,094 health facilities. Also, a total of
24,266 Ayush doctors, 2,275 Ayush paramedics and 3,416 Ayush Pharmacists have been
deployed in the States/UTs with NHM funding support.
