Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS
be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of insolvency cases initiated under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) during the last five years, year-wiseอพ
(b) the number of cases resolved through resolution and those that ended in liquidation, year-wiseอพ
(c) the average time taken to resolve insolvency cases and whether there has been a reduction in this timeline since implementation, if so, the details thereofอพ
(d) the total amount recovered through the resolution process till dateอพ and
(e) the key challenges faced in the effective implementation of the IBC and the measures taken to address them? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS [SHRI HARSH MALHOTRA]
(a) to (c): A total of 4557 insolvency cases were admitted under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) during the last five years.
During the last five years a total of 1077 cases have yielded resolution plans and 1722 cases have been closed with order of liquidation.
The 1419 CIRPs, which have yielded resolution plans by the end of March, 2026 took on average 621 days [after excluding the time excluded by the Adjudicating Authority (AA)] for conclusion of process. Time taken to resolve each case depends on circumstances and complexity of each case, nature of evidence, number of Interlocutory Applications
(IAs), stay by the higher courts, cooperation of stake holders and adjournments etc.

(d): Till March 2026, the creditors have realised Rs. 4.32 lakh crore under the resolution plans, which amounts to 30.56% of their admitted claims, 166.85% of the liquidation value and 94.56% of the fair value.
(e): The Government has undertaken seven legislative amendments to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC) and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) has introduced over 100 changes to the regulations since its inception, to strengthen the insolvency resolution framework and enhance procedural efficiency.
