INVESTING IN WEST BENGAL 2646. SHRI ADHIKARI SOUMENDU: Will the Minister of COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY be pleased to state: वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री (a) whether it is a fact that different and national multi-business houses has shown interest in ivesting in West Bengal; and (b) if so, the propoposal and support of the Government towards economic development of West Bengal and its participation thereof? ANSWER वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्रालय में राज्य मंत्री (श्री णिणिन प्रसाद) THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) & (b): Industry is a State subject. The primary responsibility for developing the industrial sector rests with the State Governments which adopts different policy measures to promote industrial development. As informed by the Government of West Bengal, many Industry Houses are showing interest and many have approached for setting up units or expanding existing units. West Bengal is home to several leading companies across a wide range of sectors, including iron and steel, tea, leather, jute, FMCG, metals and minerals, cement, textiles and apparel, logistics, chemicals, rubber, gems and jewellery, pharmaceuticals, plastics, information technology, and petro-products. The Union Government complements the efforts of the State/UT Governments through various schemes, programmes, and policy initiatives aimed at promoting industrial growth, enhancing competitiveness, and attracting investments. These include the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana (BHAVYA) for the development of plug-and-play industrial parks, Integrated Manufacturing Clusters (IMCs) under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for integrated infrastructure and logistics planning, Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) reforms, the National Single Window System (NSWS) for investment facilitation, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy reforms, and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Schemes to promote domestic manufacturing and strengthen industrial value chains. ********
