Adv PRIYA SAROJ: Shri PUSHPENDRA SAROJ: Shri RAJEEV RAI: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) the number of major and medium irrigation projects under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana–Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (PMKSY-AIBP) that remain delayed beyond their approved completion schedule, State and district-wise, particularly in Uttar Pradesh; (b) the current status of the Saryu Nahar National Project and other PMKSY- AIBP projects in Uttar Pradesh including the cost revisions, additional Central assistance released and the revised completion timelines; (c) the details of the gap between Irrigation Potential Created and Irrigation Potential Utilised under Central irrigation projects in Uttar Pradesh, along with the reasons identified for such gap; (d) the assistance released under the Micro Irrigation Fund for Uttar Pradesh and the area brought under micro-irrigation therefrom; and (e) the measures taken to improve utilisation of irrigation infrastructure and address waterlogging and canal seepage in command areas supported under Central schemes? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI RAJ BHUSHAN CHOUDHARY) 1(a) Ninety-Nine (99) ongoing major and medium Irrigation Projects (and seven phases) were included under the PMKSY-AIBP during 2016-17. Further, 19 new major and medium irrigation projects have been taken up for funding under this scheme after March, 2021. Out of these, 71 projects have been completed. The state wise details of projects taken up and completed under PMKSY-AIBP, with districts benefitted by each project, including Uttar Pradesh, are given in the Annexure. (b) & (c) Status of PMKSY-AIBP projects in the State of Uttar Pradesh including latest estimated cost of the project, central assistance provided to the project, completion timelines, irrigation potential created and irrigation potential utilized, as intimated by Government of Uttar Pradesh are given below. Madhya October, 4,909.92 255.76 1.32 1.18 Ganga Canal 2026 Project Phase-II Utilization of irrigation potential depends on the command area development works undertaken in the project command, cropping pattern adopted as per the irrigation planning, reservoir filling and irrigation water available in a particular year and hydraulic connectivity in distribution network. 2(d) As informed by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, no proposal has been received from the Government of Uttar Pradesh for financial assistance under the Micro Irrigation Fund (MIF). However, an area of 5.86 lakh hectares has been covered under micro irrigation in the State of Uttar Pradesh under Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) Scheme up to 2025-26. (e) Under PMKSY-AIBP, extension, renovation and modernisation of projects are also undertaken, including measures for addressing waterlogging and canal seepage, to improve utilization of irrigation infrastructure. Further, micro irrigation is promoted under PDMC to improve water application efficiency in farm fields. In addition, a pilot scheme viz. Modernisation of Command Area Development and Water Management (MCAD) has been launched with aim to modernize irrigation water supply network with robust backend infrastructure for micro-irrigation by farmers from established source to the farm gate with underground pressurized piped irrigation to increase water use efficiency and agriculture productivity. *** 3ANNEXURE ANNEXURE REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3016 TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 06.08.2026 REGARDING “IRRIGATION PROJECTS UNDER PMKSY-AIBP”.
