ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI
(SHRI RAJ BHUSHAN CHOUDHARY)
1(a) Ninety-Nine (99) ongoing major and medium Irrigation Projects (and seven
phases) were included under the PMKSY-AIBP during 2016-17. Further, 19 new
major and medium irrigation projects have been taken up for funding under this
scheme after March, 2021. Out of these, 71 projects have been completed. The
state wise details of projects taken up and completed under PMKSY-AIBP, with
districts benefitted by each project, including Uttar Pradesh, are given in the
Annexure.
(b) & (c) Status of PMKSY-AIBP projects in the State of Uttar Pradesh
including latest estimated cost of the project, central assistance provided to
the project, completion timelines, irrigation potential created and irrigation
potential utilized, as intimated by Government of Uttar Pradesh are given
below.

Utilization of irrigation potential depends on the command area
development works undertaken in the project command, cropping pattern
adopted as per the irrigation planning, reservoir filling and irrigation water
available in a particular year and hydraulic connectivity in distribution network.
2(d) As informed by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, no
proposal has been received from the Government of Uttar Pradesh for financial
assistance under the Micro Irrigation Fund (MIF). However, an area of 5.86 lakh
hectares has been covered under micro irrigation in the State of Uttar Pradesh
under Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) Scheme up to 2025-26.
(e) Under PMKSY-AIBP, extension, renovation and modernisation of projects
are also undertaken, including measures for addressing waterlogging and canal
seepage, to improve utilization of irrigation infrastructure. Further, micro
irrigation is promoted under PDMC to improve water application efficiency in
farm fields. In addition, a pilot scheme viz. Modernisation of Command Area
Development and Water Management (MCAD) has been launched with aim to
modernize irrigation water supply network with robust backend infrastructure
for micro-irrigation by farmers from established source to the farm gate with
underground pressurized piped irrigation to increase water use efficiency and
agriculture productivity.
