Will the Minister of PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government has fixed any timeline for completion of the Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour works and if so, the details thereof along with the present status of works;
(b) the details of the total project cost and the funds sanctioned, released and utilized for the Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour so far;
(c) whether any socio-economic impact assessment has been conducted to evaluate the effect of the project on the livelihood of local fishing communities and if so, the findings thereof; and
(d) the details of the expected employment generation and the handling capacity of the said harbour once it becomes operational? ANSWER MINISTER OF PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS (SHRI SARBANANDA SONOWAL)
(a) to(b) Yes. Department of Fisheries (DoF), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India approved the projectโConstruction of fishing harbour at Juvvaladinne, Nellore District, Andhra Pradeshโ on 18.03.2020 at a total cost of โน 288.80 crore with financial assistance of โน 69.145 crore each by DoF and Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) and โน 150.51 crore under state plan of Andhra Pradesh.As per approval the project was to be completed within a period of 4 years and 2 months. Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board(APMB) being the implementing agency of the project has informed โน 282.43 crore as total expenditure as on date.The works related to the components of the project approved by Government of India have been completed. Both the DoF and the MoPSW have released their entire share of funding for the project.(c) to(d) Yes, a third party assessment of the projectsfunded under Sagarmala scheme carried out by National Productivity Council (NPC) covered the socio-economic impact assessment of this project.The NPC has observed reduction in migration and increase in employment and trading amongthe fishermen community. The APMB has informed that the outcome of this project includes employment generation of 6,100 fishermen(direct and in direct) and handling capacity of 1,250 vessels with annual fish landing capacity of 41,250 MT equivalent to โน 282.60 crore.
