GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2917 TO BE ANSWERED ON 05.08.2026 KOTEGANGUR COACHING DEPOT PROJECT AT SHIVAMOGGA, KARNATAKA 2917. SHRI B Y RAGHAVENDRA: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) the details of the Kotegangur Coaching Depot project at Shivamogga, Karnataka along with the year of sanction, approved cost, scope of works and the facilities proposed to be created under the project during the last three years, year-wise; (b) the present status of implementation of the said project including the physical and financial progress achieved, expenditure incurred vis-à-vis the sanctioned cost and the original target date and revised timeline for their completion; (c) whether the implementation of the said project has been delayed and if so, the reasons therefor; (d) the details of funds allocated and released for the said project during the last five years along with the expenditure incurred during the said period, year-wise; and (e) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to expedite completion of the Kotegangur Coaching Depot and the expected timeline for commissioning the facility there? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (e) The work of Kotegangur coaching depot has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹ 76.01 crore. The facilities proposed are as under:- • 2 nos. of pit lines of 24 coach length • 2 nos. stabling lines & 1 no. loop line • Staff Quarters § Page 1 of 2• Sick line covered shed • Service buildings • Station building and • Machinery and Plant. The work of Station Building and Service Building has been completed. The foundation work of Sick Line covered shed has been completed. The work of Pit Line, Stabling Line, Loop Line, Staff Quarters is under progress. 31.3 acres land out of 38 acres has been acquired. The balance land acquisition of 6.7 acres, required for shunting neck, is being expedited in coordination with State Govt. Till 31.03.2026, an expenditure of ₹ 58.82 crore has been incurred. During the current financial year allocation of ₹ 9.5 crore has been provided. ***** Page 2 of 2
