Parliament Question: Lack of Railway Connectivity for Sheohar District

LOVELY ANAND: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is aware that the Sheohar district of Bihar is still deprived of direct rail service due to which local people are facing lot of hardship in travelling, carrying trade activities, getting education and health services; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) the action taken by the Government till now on the proposals received to connect Sheohar district with the national rail network along with the current status of the work undertaken in this regard; (d) whether the Government proposes to sanction a new railway line or a rail project to connect Sheohar district with national rail network; and (e) if so, the details thereof and the time by which it is likely to approved? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (e): To improve connectivity in Sheohar district, Sitamarhi – Sheohar (28 Km) new line project has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹567 Crore. This project has been declared as Special Railway Project. Status of works is under:  Land acquisition: 98 Ha land out of 160 Ha has been completed.  Works on mega bridge across Bagmati river (over 600m long) between Rewasi-Sheohar station has been taken up. § Page 1 of 6Bihar: Railway Budget: Budget allocation in the recent years has increased significantly. Budget allocation for infrastructure projects falling fully/partly in the Bihar is as under:- Period Outlay 2009-14 ₹1,132 Cr./year 2026-27 ₹10,379 Cr.
