Parliament Question: LPG production and consumption in the country

SIVADASAN: Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state: (a) the total quantity of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) produced in the country during each of the last five years, year-wise; (b) the proportion of domestic LPG production vis-à-vis total LPG consumption in the country during the same period; (c) whether Government has undertaken or approved any new investments to increase domestic LPG production capacity in the country during the last five years; and (d) the details of such investments, along with the amount invested and the locations of these projects? Further, refineries were also instructed not to divert these streams for manufacture of petrochemical products or any downstream derivatives. OMCs have been directed to ensure that the LPG so produced is supplied exclusively to domestic LPG consumers.As a result of these initiatives, domestic LPG production has been increased by 40 per cent. ********
