Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has conducted any study/survey regarding
establishment of medical emergency centres at all railway stations
and passengers trains across the country including Uttar Pradesh in
the last five years and if so, the details thereof, State-wise;
(b) the details of the total number of railway stations that have some form
of medical facilities (emergency room/clinic/dispensary and/or other
such facilities) in the premises of the railway station, especially those
in Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, district-wise;
(c) the details regarding the total number of frontline
staff/doctors/nurses/trained medical professional and ambulances
provided/available at railway station across the country at present
especially in Andhra Pradesh, State-wise/district wise;
(d) whether the Government has considered making it mandatory for
major railway stations particularly in Uttar Pradesh to have some form
of medical facilities/infrastructure available to treat patient
passengers, State and district-wise; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e): The need and extent of providing medical facilities at railway
stations and in trains was examined by Hon’ble Supreme Court. In
compliance of the orders, a committee of experts was constituted at All

India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. As recommended by
Committee of experts, instructions have been issued to provide a Medical
Box containing life saving medicines, equipments, oxygen cylinder etc. at all
Railway stations and passenger carrying trains.
Front line staff i.e. Train Ticket Examiner, Train Guards/Superintendents,
Station Master etc. are trained in rendering First Aid. Regular refresher
courses are conducted for such staff. List of near-by hospitals and doctors
along with their contact numbers is available at all Railway Stations.
Ambulance services of Railways, State Government/Private Hospitals
and ambulance service providers are utilized to transport the injured/sick
passengers to the hospitals/doctor’s clinics.
