Merger of Banks

Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is contemplating the merger of banks;
(b) if so, the details of banks currently proposed for merger;
(c) whether the merger of banks is likely to benefit the general public or yield profits for the
banks; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): Presently, there is no proposal under consideration of the Government on merger or
consolidation of Public Sector Banks.
