Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) the details of metro rail projects currently being implemented with the
help of financial assistance from the Union Government including the
names of cities, project length (in kilometres) and mode (elevated,
underground, at-grade) along with their current status (under
construction/completed), State-wise;
(b) the total funds allocated, sanctioned, released and utilised by the Union
Government for each metro rail project during the last five years, year
and project-wise;
(c) the cost-sharing pattern between the Union Government, State
Governments and other sources for each ongoing metro rail project; and
(d) whether the Government has received any new proposals for metro rail
projects during the last five years and if so, the details and the current
status thereof, State/UT-wise including Andhra Pradesh?

(a) to (c) ‘Urban planning’ is a State subject, therefore, the respective State
Governments are responsible for planning, initiating and developing urban
transport infrastructure including integration amongst various modes of public
transport. As per Metro Rail Policy, 2017, the Central Government considers
financial assistance for Metro Rail proposals in cities or urban agglomerates
based on the feasibility of the proposal and availability of resources, as and
when posed by the concerned State Government/Union Territories (UTs). The
details of metro rail projects being implemented with the help of financial
assistance from the Union Government, city and State-wise with cost sharing
pattern, are given in Annexure-I. The Details of funds allocated/released by
Government of India for the implementation of Metro Rail Projects during the
last five years are given in Annexure II.
(d) The details of metro rail proposals received from various State
Governments and sanctioned by Government of India are given in Annexure-
III.
