MISSION POSHAN 2.0 IN MADHYA PRADESH
3554. SHRI DARSHAN SINGH CHAUDHARY:
Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the number of children (0-6 years) and pregnant & lactating women who have been
benefited so far under Mission Poshan 2.0 in Madhya Pradesh, district-wise including
Hoshangabad, Narsinghpur and Raisen districts;
(b) the number of Anganwadi centres upgraded as "Saksham Anganwadis" in the above
three districts and the infrastructure, nutrition and digital facilities provided in them;
(c) whether the Government is aware that the challenge of malnutrition is relatively high
in the tribal (Adivasi) development blocks of Narsinghpur district; and
(d) if so, whether there is any proposal under consideration for additional nutrition funds,
special packages or targeted interventions for such areas and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): The number of children (0-6 years) and pregnant & lactating women who have been
benefitted so far under Mission Poshan 2.0 in Madhya Pradesh, including Hoshangabad,
Narsinghpur and Raisen districts is available at the link:

Under Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, two lakh Anganwadi Centres have been selected
for upgradation during 2021-22 to 2025-26 as Saksham Anganwadis. Saksham Anganwadis
are being strengthened and upgraded for improved nutrition delivery for stimulating the
creative, social, emotional, cognitive and intellectual development of children under 6 years of
age in convergence with education development programmes, providing / adding more services
with better infrastructure including internet/Wi-Fi connectivity to be provided wherever
possible through BharatNet, LED screens, water purifier/installation of RO Machine and Early
Childhood Care and Education with smart learning aids, audio-visual aids and child-friendly
learning equipment’s, Art Work (Educational painting, practice board for children, information
board) and wall painting (cleaning, sanding, repairing). The number of AWCs upgraded into
Saksham Anganwadi as on 09.03.2026 for the State of Madhya Pradesh has been placed at
Annexure.Nutrition goes beyond mere eating of food; it requires proper digestion, absorption, and
metabolism of nutrients. This process is influenced by factors like sanitation, education and
access to safe drinking water. As malnutrition requires a multi-sectoral approach involving
dimensions of food, health, water, sanitation and education, it is crucial to effectively address
the issue of malnutrition in a convergent manner. It is being addressed under Mission Saksham
Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 by establishing cross cutting convergence amongst 18
Ministries/Departments.
Funds have been allocated to States and UTs on usual cost sharing basis.
