GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO 1499 ANSWERD ON 28TH JULY, 2026 MOBILE VETERINARY UNITS 1499. SHRI ARUN BHARTI: Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING मत्स्यपालन, पशुपालन और डेयरी मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has effectively deployed Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs) to provide doorstep medical care to livestock in the rural segments of Lok Sabha Constituency Jamui in Bihar; (b) if so, the total number of centrally funded mobile veterinary vans currently operational and actively serving farmers in the constituency as of June 2026; (c) whether these units are fully equipped with necessary diagnostic equipment, surgical facilities, and essential medicines to handle complex rural veterinary emergencies, if so, the details thereof; (d) the details of the centralized toll-free helpline system established to allow farmers to rapidly request medical assistance for their ailing cattle; and (e) the steps proposed to be taken by the Government to ensure the timely recruitment and retention of qualified veterinary surgeons and support staff to man these mobile units efficiently? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING (SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH) (a) and (b) Out of total 307 MVUs provided to the State of Bihar under Livestock Health & Disease Control Program (LHDCP) of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), 06 MVUs have been deployed in Jamui constituency to provide Veterinary care at farmer’s doors step. (c) The MVUs are equipped with necessary equipment for disease diagnosis, minor surgical interventions and essential medicines to handle Veterinary emergencies. (d) Centralized call centres in the States are having executives and Veterinary Doctors to provide veterinary assistance services on call. Farmer’s can avail this facility by dialing toll free helpline number 1962. (e) DAHD, GOI, under LHDCP Scheme, provides budgetary support to the States on sharing basis to deploy Veterinarian, Para-Veterinarian and Driver-cum-attendant for MVUs. In this regard the physical and financial progress of the State is also monitored periodically. ****
