GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3122 TO BE ANSWERED ON 06.08.2026 MSME TECHNOLOGY CENTRE AND CLUSTERS IN WEST BENGAL 3122. SHRI KARTICK CHANDRA PAUL: Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state: (a) the details of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) units registered and operational in Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal, along with the latest data available, sector-wise; (b) whether the Government has identified Uttar Dinajpur district which produces jute, rice, sugarcane, mustard and has traditional terracotta and handicraft industries for development of an Integrated MSME Cluster or Common Facility Centre (CFC) and if so, the details thereof; (c) the details of assistance under central schemes such as Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Fund and the Technology Upgradation Fund availed by beneficiaries in Uttar Dinajpur district during the last five years, year-wise; (d) whether a MSME Development and Facilitation Office or MSME Technology Centre is proposed for the district, considering its potential in agro-processing and traditional crafts and if so, the details thereof; and (e) the steps being taken to link artisans and weavers of Uttar Dinajpur with e-commerce platforms and Gl-tagged product promotion schemes? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a): As per Udyam Registration Portal and Udyam Assist Platform, the total number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises units registered in Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal since 01.07.2020 till 31.07.2026 are 1,78,042, out of which, 19,837 MSMEs are engaged in Manufacturing, 54,090 in Service and 1,04,115 in Trading sector. (b): The Ministry of MSME so far has supported 09 Common Facility Centre (CFC) and 09 Infrastructure Development (ID) projects in the state of West Bengal. Currently, No Project proposal for Uttar Dinajpur district under MSE-CDP has been received from the Government of West Bengal. (c): The details of financial assistance provided under Central Schemes such as Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Fund in Uttar Dinajpur district during the last five years are as under:: 2 : Number of Micro enterprises assisted and Margin Money (MM) subsidy disbursed in Uttar Dinajpur under PMEGP Financial No. of Micro enterprises MM Subsidy Year assisted disbursed (Rs. (e): Ministry of MSME, through the IPR component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, provides support for the protection and commercialization of Intellectual Property, including Geographical Indications (GI), under which eligible applicants are provided reimbursement of 100% of the actual cost incurred for GI registration, subject to a maximum limit of ₹2.00 lakh per registered GI. As per Ministry of Textiles, the artisans and weavers are supported through: (i) Onboarding onto the India handmade e-commerce portal; (ii) Facilitation through Weavers' Service Centres (WSCs) / Handicraft Service Centres (HSCs); (iii) Promotion of GI-tagged and ODOP product; and (iv) Capacity building and skill development programs. *****
