SHRI MUHAMMED HAMDULLAH SAYEED: Will the Minister of FISHERIES ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING मत्स्यपालन, पशुपालन और डेयरी मंत्री be pleased to State: a. whether the Government is aware that the Mobile Veterinary Units (MVU) Scheme, implemented under the larger Livestock Health and Disease Control (LHDC) programme of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, has not yet been implemented in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep; b. if so, the reasons for the non-implementation of the scheme despite its objective to provide doorstep veterinary healthcare services to livestock owners in remote areas; c. whether the Government has conducted any assessment of the impact of the absence of MVU services on animal health and livestock productivity in the islands; d. whether there is any proposal of the Government to introduce or operationalize the MVU scheme in Lakshadweep in near future; and e. if so, the details thereof and the time by which it is likely to be implemented ? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING (SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH) (a) to (e) Under the Livestock Health & Disease Control Programme (LHDCP), the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), GoI has released an amount of Rs. 144.00 lakh to the Union Territory of Lakshadweep in 2021 for the procurement of 9 Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs). However, the amount of Rs 144.00 lakh was subsequently returned by the Union Territory Administration. As per the information received from the UT of Lakshadweep, no MVUs were procured due to the limited land area and low livestock population. *****
