Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to
state:
(a) the details of the funds provided for Andhra Pradesh under the externally aided
component and the non - externally aided component of the National Coastal Scheme;
(b) the number of projects approved for implementation under the said scheme in the
State of Andhra Pradesh during the last five years;
(c) the progress of these projects and the utilisation certificates submitted during the last
five years, year-wise; and
(d) whether new projects will be implemented under the said scheme in the State of
Andhra Pradesh and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d): National Coastal Mission (NCM) under the National Coastal Management Program
is Central Sector Scheme with the following components:
i. Management Action Plan on Conservation of Mangroves and Coral Reefs
ii. Research & Development in Marine and Coastal ecosystem
iii. Sustainable Development of Beaches under Beach Environment & Aesthetic
Management Service
iv. Capacity Building / Outreach Programme of Coastal States/UTs on conservation of
marine and coastal ecosystem including beach cleaning drive.
The implementing agencies of NCM are the State Governments of Coastal States and Union
Territory (UT) Administrations. The funds are released to the coastal States/Union Territories
based on the proposals received from the States/UTs in this Ministry.
A sum of ₹2.22 crore was provided in FY 2020-21 for the development of
environmental sound beach infrastructure and management services for Rushikonda Beach,
Vishakapatnam. Rushikonda Beach has been accorded Blue Flag Certification since 2020.
Further, a total of Rs 2.6 lakhs was provided under NCM for beach cleaning cum awareness
drive at Ramakrishna beach and Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao beach during FY 2023-24 and
FY 2024-25. The utilisation certificate for all the releases have been received.
This Ministry has not received any new proposal under NCM from the State of Andhra Pradesh.
