Parliament Question: National Highway between Rajkot and Gondal

4253. SHRI SHAKTISINH GOHIL:

Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state:-

(a) by when the construction of the National Highway between Rajkot and Gondal was scheduled to be completed, which has been going on for a considerably long period of time;

(b) the extent of delay that has occurred in completing the said work; and

(c) the details of the punitive action taken against the contractor responsible for the delay in completing the said work? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)

(a) and (b) The scheduled date of completion of the project of 6-laning of Jetpur-Gondal-Rajkot

section of NH-27 was 26.09.2025. The project stretch passes through densely populated residential and industrial areas. The project progress has been delayed due to the presence of a large number of public utilities and water pipelines interfering with the proposed development plan. The project has also been delayed to some extent due to slow progress by the Contractor. In view of these constraints, the project completion date, excluding 2 bridges affected by Rajkot Municipal corporation pipeline, has been revised to January, 2027. The remaining stretch is expected to be completed by June, 2027.

(c) In terms of the provisions of the Contract Agreement, price escalation has been disallowed for the portion of work delayed due to reasons attributable to the Contractor. *****
