RAJESH MISHRA: SHRI CHAVDA VINOD LAKHAMSHI: Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS सड़क परिवहन औि िाजमार्ग मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) the details of expansion in the National Highway (NH) network in the country since 2014, State-wise; (b) the increase in the length of National High-Speed Corridors(HSC) since 2014, State-wise; (c) the details of growth in construction in terms of kilometres of roads constructed and average length in kilometres constructed per day since 2014 in the country, State-wise; (d) the timeline set for completion of NH-39 (Sidhi–Singrauli road) which is under construction for the last 14 years; (e) whether there is any plan to upgrade and construct the Singrauli to Katni route via Sarai, Tikri, Majhauli and Vijaysota as a National Highway, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; (f) the details of the pending National Highway projects in Rajasthan including Jalore, Sirohi districts and North- Eastern States including Assam; (g) the revised targets fixed for the completion of the above said pending projects; and(h) whether any proposals are pending for sanctioning of new National Highways and if so, the details thereof? RAJESH MISHRA AND SHRI CHAVDA VINOD LAKHAMSHI REGARDING NATIONAL HIGHWAYS AND HIGH SPEED CORRIDORS (a) Length of National Highways (NH) network in the country has expanded from 91,287 km in March, 2014 to 146,342 km at present. State / Union Territory (UT) – wise details of NH length at present vis-à-vis that in March, 2014 are at Annexure-I. (b) Length of Access controlled National High Speed Corridors (HSC) / Expressways has increased from 93 km in March, 2014 to ~5,110 km at present. Out of 5,110 km length, 2,636 km length has already been operationalized. (d) Out of total 106 km taken up for four laning of Sidhi to Singrauli section of NH-39, 50 km has been constructed and work terminated in May, 2025 due to Contractor’s default. Maintenance Contract has been awarded for the balance sections to keep the stretches in traffic worthy condition till new agency is appointed for completion of balance four laning work by March, 2027. (e) Government receives proposals from various State Governments / UTs from time to time, for declaration / upgradation of State roads, including State Highways (SHs), as new NHs. Decisions are taken based on the broad principles of declaration of NHs, requirement of connectivity, traffic density, inter-se priority and synergy with PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP). At present, declaration of the Singrauli to Katni route via Sarai, Tikri, Majhauli and Vijaysota in the State of Madhya Pradesh as NH is not under consideration. The Government engaged in fulfilling its obligations. (f) and (g) At present, 206 under construction NHs projects costing about Rs. 91,290 crore are delayed in the State of Rajasthan and in North Eastern States including Assam, with completion of majority of these projects in a phased manner in 2025-26 and only few projects spilling beyond 2026-27. Out of this, 1 NH project of Rs.410 Crore passes through Jalore district in the State of Rajasthan with targeted completion in 2025-26.(h) About 54,004 km of State Roads, including State Highways (SHs) and greenfield stretches, have been notified as NHs in the country since April, 2014. Development and maintenance of NHs is a continuous process. Works on notified NHs are accordingly taken up based on the traffic density, connectivity requirement, condition of the road, inter-se priority and synergy with PM Gati Shakti NMP.
