NATIONAL HIGHWAYS IN GUJARAT
2183. SHRI PARIMAL NATHWANI:
Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state:-
(a) steps taken by Government in terms of extensive potholes and broken surfaces on major
highway routes of Gujarat including Bharuch-Surat and Ahmedabad-Himmatnagar highway;
(b) the details of toll collected from National Highways of Gujarat during last five years
and funds allocated to the State for construction-maintenance work of highways of the
State during the same period; and
(c) whether Government has decided any deadline for completion of work on highways
of Gujarat, particularly on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad (NH-48), Surat-Dahisar and Ahmedabad-
Rajkot-Jetpur routes?

(a) The maintenance of National Highways (NHs) is a continuous process and is being done
through existing concessionaires/ contractors and maintenance contractors appointed in the
project corridor of NH-48. The rectification to damages & potholes including work of
bitumionous overlay has been completed for Bharuch Surat Section and Ahmedabad-
Himmatnagar sections of NH-48.
(b) The year-wise details of toll collected and details of funds allocated for development &
maintenance of National Highways are as under:

(c) The details are tabulated as under:
Highway Section Remarks
NH-48
i. Vapi-Surat & The 6-laning work has already been completed in 2011 (Bharuch-Surat)
Surat- Bharuch & Year 2013 (Surat-Vapi) and currently under maintenance on
Performance Based Road Maintenance Contract (PBMC) mode. The
work of construction of 16 Nos of bridges and flyovers/Vehicular
underpass is under progress which is targeted to be completed by
January 2027.
ii. Bharuch- The 6-laning work has already been completed in 2011 and is currently
Vadodara: under maintenance on PBMC mode. The work of construction of 07
Nos of bridges and flyovers/Vehicular underpass is under progress
which is targeted to be completed by December 2026.
iii. Vadodara- Six laning has been completed and is under maintenance under BOT
Ahmedabad- mode till 2037.
iv. Shamlaji – Balance work of 6 – laning is targeted for completion by June- 2026.
Motachiloda
Rajkot-Jetpur section of 6-laning work is under progress and targeted for completion by
NH-27. January-2027.
Rajkot-Ahmedabad This project is under jurisdiction of Govt. of Gujarat and being done
through their own budgetary resources.
Further, work of Delhi- Mumbai Expressway is also under implementation which is
targeted for completion by March-2028.
