be pleased to state:
(a) the number of the projects proposed and approved under each component of the National
Programme for Dairy Development (NPDDP since the inception of the programme, State and
district-wise for Andhra Pradesh;
(b) the funds sanctioned, released and utilised for these projects, State and year-wise during the last
five years, year and State-wise;
(c) the number of projects implemented under each programme component for Andhra Pradesh and
the area or number of farmers covered under each project, State and district-wise; and
(d) the achievement of the Government through these projects, including increase in milk production,
growth in dairy farmer income, number of jobs generated and improvements in dairy value-chain
infrastructure, State-wise for Andhra Pradesh?

(a) and (b) Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), GoI is implementing “National
Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD)” scheme across the country since 2014-15. At present,
NPDD scheme is being implemented with the following two components:
(i) Component A of NPDD focuses on creating and strengthening infrastructure for quality milk
testing equipment as well as primary milk collection and chilling facilities across the country, along
with processing and value‑added infrastructure in Hilly areas, North‑Eastern Regions, and Union
Territories.
(ii) Component B of the NPDD scheme, “Dairying through Cooperatives,” focuses on creating
infrastructure across the entire dairy value chain in nine states, including Andhra Pradesh.
Under Component A of NPDD scheme, 4 projects have been approved with the total cost of
Rs.235.05 crore including central share of Rs.162.25 crore in Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, under
Component B of NPDD scheme, 3 projects have been approved for Andhra Pradesh with the total
cost of Rs. 373.01 crore including loan amount of Rs.135.78 crore and grant amount of Rs.70.31crore. The details of the projects approved, districts covered, funds released & utilized under NPDD
scheme, since inception, in Andhra Pradesh is at Annexure-I.
Details of year-wise fund released & utilized during last five years under the projects of Component A
and Component B of NPDD is as follows: -

(c) 4 projects under Component A & 3 projects under Component B of NPDD have been implemented
in Andhra Pradesh.
As reported by the Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited (APDDCF)
and National Dairy Development Board, in Andhra Pradesh, Under Component A of NPDD scheme
total of 4.25 lakh farmers have been enrolled/covered and under Component B of NPDD scheme 0.42
lakh farmers have also been covered. District-wise details of 4.67 lakh farmers enrolled/covered under
NPDD projects in Andhra Pradesh are at Annexure-II.
(d) Under the NPDD scheme in Andhra Pradesh, 80 Bulk Milk Coolers with 3.5 lakh litres per day
chilling capacity and 4,864 Automatic Milk Collection Units with Milk Analysers have been installed
at village-level milk collection centres. One State-level Central Laboratory has been established and
seven Dairy Plant Laboratories have been upgraded, while six dairy plants have been strengthened with
modern machinery, cold-chain facilities, and Effluent Treatment Plants. These interventions have
enabled an additional milk procurement of 4.78 lakh kilograms per day. Further, around 4.67 lakh
farmers have been enrolled, gaining self-employment opportunities and improved access to organized
markets. In addition, about 7,000 direct and indirect jobs have been generated. The increased
procurement and strengthened infrastructure have enhanced sales, thereby ensuring higher returns to
farmers and contributing to growth in their incomes.
