(a) whether the Government has established or issued a notification for
constituting a National Road Safety Board to formulate standards for
road safety, traffic management, road construction and evolving
effective strategies for implementation of the road safety policy etc.;
(b) if so, the time by which the said board is likely to start functioning
and the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(c) whether the pilot project has been initiated by the Government to
provide cashless treatment to the victims of road accidents, if so,
the details thereof?

(a) and (b) The Government has notified the National Road Safety Board
and National Road Safety Board Rules vide Notifications SO 3627(E) dated
03.09.2021 and GSR 615(E) dated 03.09.2021 respectively. Further, the
Government has published the draft notification for amendment in the said
notifications for inviting comments of citizens and other stakeholders,
vide GSR 480(E) dated 18.07.2025.
The functioning of the Board will be subsequent to the publication of the
notification after examination of the comments received, if any, to the
draft notification published on 18.07.2025.
(c) The pilot project was initiated by the Government for providing
cashless treatment to victims of road accidents in selected States / UTs.
Subsequently, the Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme,
2025 has been notified vide SO 2015(E) dated 05.05.2025, under the legal
mandate vide Section 162 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The guidelinesof the Scheme notified vide SO 2489(E) dated 04.06.2025 provides for
detailed process flow, delineated stakeholder roles and responsibilities,
and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
