According to information from the DJB, Jawahar Colony, a Delhi Government 20-point program colony with approximately 325 houses and a population of 1800, receives water supply through four functional bore wells. In addition, the supply is supplemented by 34 daily water tanker trips. All four tubewells in Jawahar Colony are currently functional. Water tankers are deployed across Delhi to address potable water demand in areas facing supply shortages.
There is no plan to supply water to Delhi colonies under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana. The DJB is developing water supply infrastructure based on the Water Master Plan.

NEGLIGENCE OF DJB IN SUPPLYING WATER TO JAWAHAR COLONY

Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware that the residents of Jawahar Colony of Village Mandi,
Delhi are not getting the water supply under Har Ghar Jal Yojana and the tubewell for supply
of water is also out of order for several months due to negligence of Delhi Jal Board (DJB);
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;
(c) the time by which faulty tubewell would be repaired by DJB and the reasons for supplying
water through tankers in Delhi; and
(d) whether there is any proposal to supply water in all the colonies of Delhi under Har Ghar
Jal Yojana and if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b) Since August 2019, Government of India in partnership with States/UTs, is
implementing centrally sponsored scheme Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) – Har Ghar Jal to make
provision of tap water supply to every rural household in all villages across the country.
Drinking Water being a State subject, States/UTs plan, design, approve and implement
drinking water supply schemes. Government of India supplements the efforts of the
States/UTs by providing technical and financial assistance. Further, matters related to
drinking water supply in urban areas comes within the purview of Ministry of Housing and
Urban Affairs (MoHUA). It is stated that no area under NCT of Delhi is covered under Jal
Jeevan Mission and drinking water supply under all urban/rural areas of NCT of Delhi is
done by Delhi Jal Board.
As per the information received from Delhi Jal Board, Jawahar Colony Mandi Village, is
Delhi Government’s 20 point program colony. In this colony, there are about 325 houses
having population of about 1800 people. Water supply to this colony is provided through
04 no of bore wells and at present all the bore wells are functional. In addition to this water
supply is supplemented through water tankers. 3-4 water tanker trips per day are being sent
to this colony. All the Bore wells are functional at present.
(c) As per the information received from Delhi Jal Board, all the four tubewells of the
Jawahar Colony are functional. Water tankers are deployed in Delhi to meet out the potable
water demand of the short supply/no supply areas.
(d) There is no proposal to supply water in the colonies of Delhi under Har Ghar Jal Yojana.
However, Delhi Jal Board has informed that they are developing water supply infrastructure
according to the Water Master Plan.
