(a) whether it is a fact that the Government has recently approved opening of 57
new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) in the country with a view to improve educational
opportunities for the children of central Government employees, if so, the
details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has any proposal to open any new KV in Tamil Nadu
particularly in Tiruppur/Coimbatore for the educational opportunities of the
children/wards of migrant daily wage workers who are earning meagre salary
due to which they are facing difficulties in getting their children admitted in
nearby private schools; and
(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c) The Government of India has sanctioned 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs)
including one new KV in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu on 1st October, 2025.
State/UT-wise details of these 57 newly sanctioned KVs are annexed.
Opening of new KVs is a continuous process. KVs are opened primarily to cater
to the educational needs of the wards of transferable Central Government Employees
including Defence & Para-Military personnel, Central Autonomous Bodies, Central
Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Central Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) by
providing a common programme of education throughout the country. Proposals for
opening of new KVs may be sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the
Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories Administrations, with
commitment to provide requisite extent of land and suitable rent-free temporary
accommodation for setting up a new KV as per norms. At present, 1286 KVs including
46 KVs in Tamil Nadu are functional across the country.
As per information received from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), at
present, one KV i.e. KV, Udumalpet is functioning in Tiruppur district and three KVs
i.e. (i) KV, Coimbatore (ii) KV, AFS, Sulur and (iii) KV, BSF, Kittampalayam are
functioning in Coimbatore district. No proposal for opening of a new KV in Tiruppur /
Coimbatore has been received by KVS from the State Government of Tamil Nadu /
the concerned district administration.
