(a) whether any new National Highway (NH) projects are being
planned for Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming fiscal year, if so, the
details thereof;
(b) whether there are any expansions or upgrades planned for
existing highways to improve connectivity within Andhra Pradesh,
if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether there are plans to develop or expand industrial
corridors, such as the Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor,
to boost economic activity, if so, the details thereof;
(d) the steps being taken to improve road infrastructure in Special
Economic Zones (SEZs) and industrial hubs across Andhra
Pradesh;
(e) whether there are plans to incorporate green initiatives like
solar-powered highways or tree-lined roads in upcoming projects
in Andhra Pradesh, if so, the details thereof;
(f) the manner in which the Government is planning to ensure
environmental sustainability in road construction projects in
Andhra Pradesh; and
(g) whether there are new proposals for constructing bridges or
tunnels in critical areas like river crossings, hilly or mountainous
regions or congested zones in Andhra Pradesh, if so, the details

ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS
(SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)(a) & (b) Development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs)
is a continuous process, and works are accordingly taken up from
time to time after fulfilling technical requirements, traffic levels,
connectivity needs, inter-se priority, and synergy with the PM Gati
Shakti National Master Plan (NMP). The Ministry has approved the
Annual Plan 2025-26 with an outlay of ₹12,152 crore for 28 works
covering 457 km in the State of Andhra Pradesh. In addition, 3
works covering 383 km at a cost of Rs.26,453 crore during 2025-
26 have been planned by National Highways Authority of India.
(c) & (d) The development and expansion of industrial corridors is
undertaken by the Department for Promotion of Industry and
Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and
Industry. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways provides
connectivity to industrial nodes through NHs. Details of NH projects
in progress or planned during 2025-26 near industrial corridors
including the Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor in the
State of Andhra Pradesh are given at Annexure.
(e) Yes, Sir. The Green Highways (Plantation, Transplantation,
Beautification & Maintenance) Policy, 2015 applies to all National
Highways across the country, including those in the State of Andhra
Pradesh, with the objective of promoting the greening of NH
corridors. Plantation along the Right of Way of NHs is carried out in
accordance with this policy.
(f) Government in this Ministry has promoted the adoption of eco-
friendly, green, and sustainable materials, as well as advanced
construction practices and technologies, for road construction
projects across the country, including in the State of Andhra
Pradesh. A variety of such materials including fly ash, slag,
construction and demolition waste, inert landfill material, waste
plastic, crumb rubber modified bitumen, recycled pavement
materials, geosynthetics (including jute and coir), bamboo crash
barriers, bio-bitumen, bio-engineering measures for slope protection,
and ground granulated blast furnace slag are being used in different
NH projects, depending on their availability and feasibility.
(g) Bridges are generally constructed as part of NH development
and upgradation projects. No major stand-alone bridge project and
no tunnel project are planned during 2025-26 in the State of Andhra
