Will the Minister of CONSUMER AFFAIRS. FOOD AND PUBLIC
DISTRIBUTION be pleased to state:
(a) the details of quantity of foodgrains allocated to the districts of Bundelkhand region
in Uttar Pradesh under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) along with the actual
quantity distributed during the last three financial years, district-wise;
(b) the details of the current status of installation and functioning of e-PoS machines for
biometric authentication at all Fair Price Shops (FPS) in Bundelkhand region to prevent
leakages and irregularities in foodgrain distribution;
(c) whether the Government has any proposal to provide additional nutritional support
such as pulses, edible oils and millets to the beneficiaries of the Bundelkhand region apart
from the existing entitlement under the present quota; and
(d) if so, the details thereon

(a): Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) is operated under the joint responsibility of the
Central and State/UT Governments. As per the provisions of National Food Security Act (NFS A),
Central Government’s responsibility is to provide the food grains to the designated depots in each
state. As per section 24 (3) of NFSA, it is the responsibility of State to take delivery of food grains
from designated depots and ensure distribution to the beneficiaries. As informed by the State
Government, district wise allocation and distribution for Bundelkhand region in Uttar Pradesh in
last three years are as per Annexure-l.(b): As per the State Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, all Fair Price Shops (FPS) in 7 districts of the
Bundelkhand region are installed with e-PoS machines for the distribution of food grains to eligible
beneficiaries after biometric authentication.
(c) & (d): Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD) allocates Coarse grains including
Millets, named as Nutri-Cereals, under NFS A to States/UTs as per State’s request in lieu of equal
quantity of wheat/rice. DFPD has allocated 2.86 LMT & 0.193 LMT of millets in FY 2024-25 and
FY 2025-26 (as on 27.11.2025) respectively to Uttar Pradesh under NFSA. The district wise
allocation is the responsibility of concerned State.
Further, pulses are not provided under PDS, however, pulses from the buffer maintained
under Price Stabilizaiton Fund (PSF) have been allocated, from time to time to States/UTs for their
welfare schemes such as Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Mid Day Meal (MDM) as
per availability and requirement.
