State Government Proposals:
The Government receives proposals from State Governments, including Andhra Pradesh, for declaring/upgrading state roads as NHs.
Consideration for declaring state roads as NHs is based on connectivity requirements, inter-se priority, traffic levels, and synergy with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP).

Impact: Responsible for the development and maintenance of National Highways and for considering proposals from the Andhra Pradesh government to declare/upgrade state roads as National Highways.

State Government of Andhra Pradesh:

Highway (SH) connectivity to tribal areas in North Andhra Pradesh
especially in Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri
Sitharama Raju and Anakapalli districts along with the information
on road length, type, condition, district-wise;
(b) whether the Government has identified any tribal areas in
Andhra Pradesh that currently lack adequate road or highway
connectivity and if so, the details thereof;
(c) the number and status of road development projects sanctioned,
implemented or completed in these areas in the last five years,
project-wise and district-wise;
(d) the funds allocated, released and utilised for these projects in
the last five years; and
(e ) whether any proposals from the State Government of Andhra
Pradesh for improving tribal area connectivity are pending with the
Union Government and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c) Government in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways
is mainly responsible for development and maintenance of NationalHighways (NHs). The details of NHs passing through the districts of
Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju and
Anakapalli in the State of Andhra Pradesh are at Annexure- I. The
details of ongoing NH works and those completed during the last
five years along with their sanctioned cost, expenditure incurred in
these districts are at Annexure-II.
(d) Funds are allocated on a consolidated, State-wise basis for the
development and maintenance of National Highways, and not
earmarked project-wise. The details of funds allocated and
expenditure incurred towards development and maintenance of NHs
in the State of Andhra Pradesh during the last five years are as
under;
